And so it begins...

Blogging is in my nature.  I love to share.  I love to write.  At a certain time in my life, I was writing on four different blogs.  Enter my return to school to finish my teaching degree and POOF!  Blogging disappeared from my life...replaced by research papers and class projects.

Now, it's finally coming to an end...my college career, that is!  I am beyond thrilled to be graduating on December 14th!  For the past 15 weeks I have been student teaching in a kindergarten class with 20ish students.  (We started with 21...lost 2 and gained 1.)  I've absolutely loved the experience...not the pay so much!  Haha!  I'm anxious to have my own classroom, but I have decided to take the spring semester to substitute.  I want to take some time to get to know different schools in our district and get a feel for the school and grade level I would ultimately like to be in.

So let me share a little bit more about myself.  I love to make lists.  Love. it.

1.  I taught preschool for close to 15 years prior to beginning my student teaching.  Preschoolers and kinders are my favorites.

2.  I love Starbucks, but I refuse to pay for it.  Therefore, I rely on gift cards to support the habit.  I can typically get it a couple of times a month using this method.

3.  Like almost every other teacher out there, I am giddy at the thought of supplies...especially the fun ones.  Like Post-its, special markers, and cute office paraphernalia.

4.  I've been a single mom for over 10 years...I have a daughter that will turn 16 and a son that will turn 13 in March.  The teenage years might possibly be my undoing.

5.  I wish life were a musical...where people randomly burst into song and perfectly choreographed dance.

6.  To go along with #5, I love to sing in the classroom.  I will often make songs up on the fly.  Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.  That's the benefit of teaching young ones though.  They are always impressed and it almost always gets their attention.

7.  I hold a deep and abiding love for Jack Bauer.  I've seen every episode of 24 at least three times.

8.  I love working with students at my church.  I recently made the move from middle school students to 10th grade.  As crazy as it sounds, it's a great diversion from the little ones I'm with during the week.  I absolutely love my girls.

9.  I love all things Disney.  In fact, I've contemplated a Disney/Pixar themed classroom.  Disney World is my happy place, and one of my favorite life moments was running the Princess Half Marathon through Cinderella's Castle dressed as Snow White.

10.  I love to travel and serve through mission projects around the world.  Two years ago I traveled to Uganda, Africa with a local ministry, Parental Care Ministries.  Another top life moment...can't wait to do it again!

I'm looking forward to continuing this blogging journey in the "teacher" world.  I plan to keep this blog focused on the art of teaching, lesson planning, sharing my days as I learn and grow in this field.  Thanks for visiting!
